The West Town Hideout is a truly unique place because of its history. The Hideout doesn't look like most apartments because until recently, it wasn't an apartment! The Hideout was originally a TRUE hideout; until recently it was a modern-day "speakeasy!" Many people associate the word "speakeasy" with prohibition, but even post-prohibition "secret bars" have existed throughout Chicago (& still do!). These are casual gathering places that are fully licensed bars, but with no flashing neon signs in windows. Generally, like The Hideout, they are inconspicuous places with just a simple door and glass block windows belying none of the fun that's being had inside by patrons & friends. These informal establishments have a long history in Undercover Chicago and we love that this home is a small part of that history.

West Town itself is one of the most trendy neighborhoods in Chicago. Plus our home is an 8 min drive to Magnificent Mile and 5 min drive to some of Chicago's other hot neighborhoods like West Loop, River North, Wicker Park, Bucktown and Ukranian Village.
